    Isn't shorting something unique to the stock market? In the rest of the economy, I mean in the real world, in commodity prices for example, like NdPr oxides, if you think is overpriced, you simply don't buy it. That's your vote. Your capital goes elsewhere. This is what happens in the real estate industry for example, or the supermarket, anything really, it's supply and demand.
    If you are so sure that something is overpriced, then wait till the price goes down or buy it somewhere else, that is what happens in the rest of the economy. Shorting just looks like bullshit to me. It builds in volatility to the market, not to mention manipulation, no wonder it's banned in volatile times.
    Anyone know when it was invented?
