Locals are not fully against it. They're aware that if GGG fails Narsaq would struggle and slowly disappear (out migration). However, within a year the fear mongering by local media and uneducated environmentalists have tilted the scale against it (polls shows 60% now oppose) which the party IA has capitalized and keeps feeding it.
Yet, numbers (public budget, block grant, unemployment) don't lie. The recent broken promises on fishing quotas are an indication that IA will eventually collapse driven by economic and governance reasons.
