I have read that article previously and yes it does offer Greenland some opportunity to explore other energy sources such as Hydro which they have been doing now for sometime now having representations to the EU back in 2016.
Certainly also creates other dialogue with the US with other sources of energy.

However the US are very aware of the opportunities that exist in Greenland (and it's strategic importance) having reopened their Consulate last year after 50 years.

I have mentioned China previously on this site and it's Arctic ambitions many times and the importance of Greenland.to them

However that does not take away from the fact that the "Kuannersuit Project" also offer the same opportunity and much more given the stage it is at and the EU need to secure Critical supply of Rare Earth. We know that Greenland is very rich in resources including Oil and Gas. will they also plan to exploit this and Fossil energy....

The Kavefjeld Project has been approved by the GOG authority to contiune it's development of this mine to EIA stage and PH. Knowing that the site contains Uranium/Radioactive material....The IA party been part of the process thus far...........

Notwithstanding the discussion on the table at this time.

All the materials including tailings have a clean energy use. Particuarly now with new developments Thorium (moderately radioactive) for instance being one which can supply many more times the energy of uranium with virtually minimal waste and all being used up in the energy supply.

Uranium is still one of the major energy sources thoughout the world, even supplying the UK(about 20%) with enegry when ohter units fail. Just take a look....... Uranium Tailings now being used for enrichment, that probably means that Iceland maybe able to reduce it's tailings stockpile......

The Kavefjeld Project offer much more in the one site which is easier to manage and control than having many many sites dotted all over the place that would need supervision than the one site. The Kavefjeld site is not a tourist attraction.

Greenland have courted China and still want too............

John Mair has made it quite clear that GML is not a Chinese company that Shenghe have a 9% interest and have played a critical role in developing processing of the Ores within the Kavefjeld site. That expertise not being available elswhere because of China's expertise. That does not mean that GML are joined at the hip with Shenghe maybe they have MOU's in place but they are not firm agreements.

GML will do what is best for GML and it's many shareholders.....

Greenland have a lot a lot of work to do on how they are going to fix their own polluting issues as well as the Arctic region...... to build a tourism industry
