"The ice is gone, and summer is just around the corner, and it is precisely this time of year that most dinghy fishermen in South Greenland look forward to the most rewarding period. But the corona crisis has hit the coastal fisheries in South Greenland unusually hard, and has forced the dinghy fishery to its knees.It writes the newspaper Sermitsiaq.But climate change is also hitting so hard that it threatens the existence of the fishing industry. But it is not only the dinghy economy that has broken down, the fish factories have also been forced to adapt to the sharply falling fish prices on the world market.- The conditions are so serious that it must be described as a catastrophic situation, says Ole Larsen, who is chairman of the fishing and trapping association in Nanortalik.
