    Today…
Naleraq threatens a vote of no confidence.

Naleraq is not satisfied with an announcement from naalakkersuisoq that user fees in ports must be spread. If not naalakkersuisoq mate right, Naleraq threatens to withdraw the support.

Naleraq is strongly opposed to plans to expand the model from Sikuki Harbor in Nuuk, where fishermen pay a fee to use the seas. Leiff Josefsen

In several areas, Greenland's infrastructure is plagued by renovation backlogs. This applies, for example, to airports and heliports, homes and the country's ports.

A model to improve port maintenance is now the cause of a dispute between Naleraq and naalakkersuisoq for infrastructure.

In a reply to Siumuts Aslak Jensen, naalakkersuisoq Mariane Paviasen (IA) announces that user fees, as is known from Sikuki Harbor in Nuuk, will be extended to more cities.

In Nuuk, user fees finance the port's expenses, and the Naalakkersuisut is working to introduce user fees gradually in more cities.

    Unanimous action without parliamentary basis
This makes it the same for everyone in the different ports, and you get money in the coffers for maintenance, it reads:

    - With the introduction of user fees, not only is the discrimination treated to be addressed, but will also contribute to more funds being allocated for maintenance, writes naalakkersuisoq and continues:

Lack of maintenance affects not only the ports' usability but also their security condition, and the work of introducing user fees is therefore a high priority.

That announcement has led Naleraq to come out on top against naalakkersuisoq and the coalition partner IA, because the party is opposed to user fees, especially for dinghy fishermen:

    - A Naalakkersuisoq's one-sided solutions do not promote democracy and such one-sided actions outside of its parliamentary basis we can from Naleraq under no circumstances support, says Jens Napaattooq in a written comment and continues:

    - Naalakkersuisut can not rule the country unanimously, because they must have a majority in Inatsisartut behind them, and here Naalakkersuisut has failed to cooperate with the coalition partners and has begun to act in violation of the coalition agreement, which we from Naleraq strongly reprimand.

Demands abolition of taxes in Nuuk
Jens Napaattooq elaborates to Sermitsiaq.AG that it has been an unwritten agreement between the coalition parties IA and Naleraq that no taxes may be levied on the use of dinghies by dinghy fishermen and smaller vessels.

According to Napaattooq, the taxes that fishermen pay to Sikuki in Nuuk should be abolished. Otherwise, naalakkersuisoq risks a vote of no confidence:

    - Therefore, we demand that an immediate termination agreement be reached with Sikuki Harbor, that dinghy fishermen and owners of small fishing vessels must pay fees to precisely Sikuki Habour, because a failure to terminate shows not only that Naalakkersuisoq has not followed, but that such a action is directly contrary to the coalition agreement, and that Naalakkersuisoq thus no longer has a majority behind it, writes Jens Napaattooq.

Jens Napaattooq will not indicate where the money will come from for the renovation of the ports around the country. The politician says renovations must be prioritized through negotiations on the Finance Act in Inatsisartut.

    - We will have investigated whether it can be financed from a central team, or whether there may be a tax on larger ships, the politician says.

Sermitsiaq.AG is working to get a comment on the criticism from Mariane Paviasen.

    Where’s Mute? Denmark since mid-January…

After being tested positive for coronavirus in Denmark, the chairman of the Naalakkersuisut, Múte B. Egede (IA), is now resuming his meetings after a few days of sick leave.

This is stated by the Self-Government in a press release.

This week, the President will meet with Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, and later this week he will meet with the British Minister for International Trade, Ranil Jayawardena, and the British Ambassador to Denmark, Emma Hopkins.

It is not stated what Múte B. Egede will talk to Mette Frederiksen about.

The meeting with the British is supposed to be about the negotiations on a trade agreement with the country after Britain has left the EU. Negotiations on a trade agreement have been going on for several years, and it is important in relation to securing Greenlandic exports of, among other things, shrimp, for which there is a large market in the United Kingdom.

While the chairman has recovered, another member of the Naalakkersuisut has received a corona. This is about naalakkersuisoq for social affairs, labor market and home affairs, Mimi Karlsen (IA), who writes in a Facebook update that she is going into isolation after a positive test.
