Also, most other announcements for ASB are in the US prior to market open, and so there's no need for a trading halt as the announcement was made whilst the ASX was closed.
This however, being an Ausralian annoncement requires Richard Marles to head to Perth to make the announcement sometime during their day time, being in the middle of ASX trade. The politicians want to be the one to break the news to the media.
