    Just stating facts TA. Vines are not native to Australia, they had to come from somewhere and they are actually very ancient stock that survived the European pestilence. Vines like Shiraz were imported early 1800's from Syrah before they were completely wiped out in their homeland :- none of he ancient variety survived in France, only here.

    For a long time Oz wine was fortified which may have created a fog in the minds of same.

    If you have a cultural cringe about Oz, I suspect there's no convincing your palette to accept we actually produce fantastic wines.

    For me the best white is Houghton White Classic (Burgundy), originally c/o Swan Valley cellars.
