Why not? The Government has had all sorts of requirements and regulations on the Taxi Industry that they have turned a blind eye to on Uber.
Sounds like you think Governments should have rules for "some" and not for "others".
This is Government by "Popularity". If it's popular then it's OK. To hell with what we make others do!
With an attitude like that and public support for that attitude then what next is on the Government's list of things to corrupt, change and just run over the top of?
