LONDON July 18 (Reuters) - Anglo American AAL.L said its copper output was almost flat in the first half, while it curbed its output forecast for coking coal, combined woes that are likely to weigh on its earnings just months after rebuffing a takeover bid from bigger rival BHP Group (BHP) .
Copper output was up 2% from a year earlier, while it lowered its yearly guidance for steelmaking coal to a range of 14 to 15.5 million metric tons from 15 to 17 million previously.
The company is battling an underground fire at its Grosvenor coal mine in Australia, which analysts say could affect the timing and value of a planned sale of coal assets.
