SANTIAGO, Aug 14 (Reuters) - Miner BHP (BHP) said on Wednesday it has asked the workers' union at its Escondida mine in Chile to pause its strike action while they resumed talks, but the union had declined.
Workers had a day earlier begun a strike at Escondida, the world's largest copper mine, which ships most of its concentrates to China which turns this into refined copper.
