News: Botswana Metals kicks off nickel copper drilling on wholly-owned license

  1. Botswana Metals (ASX:BML) has now commenced drilling at its wholly-owned licenses in Botswana, known as PL 59 - or the Maibele North Extension.

The three hole reverse circulation drilling program will cover 775 metres and test one of its three prospects identified using SQUID EM conductor targets coincident with VTEM anomalies.

The EM anomalies are only 4 kilometres east of Maibele North, which is the joint venture with BCL Limited and hosts a JORC resource of: 2.38 million tonnes at 0.72% nickel, 0.21% copper and 0.63g/t 4PGE+Au using a 0.3% nickel cut-off grade.

Pat Volpe, chairman, commented: “Drilling at PL 59 on BML’s 100% owned Licence commences today.

"If the drilling intersects mineralisation, this will open up the potential for a substantial increase to the already known nickel mineralisation at Maibele North.

"A new project focus will be born for our company.”

    Why SQUID is important

A SQUID (superconducting quantum interference device) is a very sensitive magnetometer used to measure extremely subtle magnetic fields, based on superconducting loops containing Josephson junctions.

Highlighting its potential, to date every SQUID anomaly drilled at Maibele North joint venture with BCL Limited has intersected nickel sulphides.
