Aug 12 (Reuters) - Australian shares were poised for a strong opening on Monday, extending gains from the previous session, with traders bracing for earnings reports from blue-chip firms like lender Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA) and biotech giant CSL Ltd (CSL) later this week.
The local share price index futures YAPcm1 rose 0.8%, a 3.3-point premium to the underlying S&P/ASX 200 index (xjo) close. The benchmark rose 1.3% on Friday.
New Zealand's benchmark S&P/NZX 50 index (nz50) fell 0.1% in early trade.
