Looking at AFR article on MG and BLK today, Chinese consumers prefer specialisation, daigou only promote & buy when AU locally popular, and they are brand loyal. BAL is doing ok it appears as a consequence BLK has teething issues. Might need a new formula (pun intended).

CDC, hypothetically, may not be focussing on daigou supply chain and may have another way to supply and promote with its existing supply chains and insider knowledge. I imagine it knows its market in PRC, knows the issues; biggest might be trusting Chinese owned brand and so how it straddles is very interesting and axiomatic.

Sometimes deals take time...September deadline is a good waiting period before questions are asked.
