Ceramic Fuel Cells Limited (ASX:CFU) has announced that its gas to electricity generator, BlueGen, has been certified by the Australian Gas Association for installation as a gas appliance in Australia.

BlueGen uses patented ceramic fuel cell technology to turn natural gas into electricity and heat for hot water and now is certified as a “Type A” gas appliance.

This will enable the BlueGen units to be installed by a licensed and trained plumber or gasfitter, as for any other typical gas appliance in Australia.

The units are currently available to commercial customers through distributors Harvey Norman Holdings Limited (ASX:HVN) Commercial division and Hills Industries Limited (PINK:HSSLF).

In the first half of the 2011 financial year Ceramic Fuel Cells booked a net loss of $8.4 million
