Classic Minerals (ASX:CLZ) has commenced a deep drilling program centred on its A17 discovery, 60 kilometres from Sirius Resources’ (ASX:SIR) Nova and Bollinger copper-nickel sulphide discoveries in the Fraser range of Western Australia.
The drilling program is based on the results from a high power electromagnetic survey in May, which identified a 1 kilometre long conductor, interpreted to extend from 40 metres to at least 500 metres below A17.
In addition, three new conductors were identified at depth and the conductive target was extended to over 8 kilometres in strike.
Four conductor targets will be drilled to a depth of 200 metres, and then continued to the end of hole at 400 metres with diamond core.
The drilling will be complemented by geochemical surveys to identify possible anomalies at surface.
Downhole electromagnetic surveys will be carried out on all holes drilled, with the potential to detect nearby conductors up to 200 metres along strike and up to 100 metres horizontally and vertically.
It is anticipated the drilling program will be completed late in August.
Classic is valued at around $9 million.
