I understand OZ is the only gas export country in the workd does not have a domestic gas reservation system. So to me those Those that say changing this rule is a sovereign risk. I say BS. Govts have a right to change policy and these gas giants know this.
The second point and i do not know the answer yet is, who pays the difference between east coast domestic price of $40 and the spot price for expirt of $380.
This is a reservation payment is it not. If the regulator is paying this then tax payers are paying are we not. So i do not see any driver for the giants to acquise and comply. They can drag it on until a new reservation system is forced upon them.
if i was them i would be offering a gas reservation model before being pushed into a corner, ie pro actively approach the feds
So lets get on with it and solve this once and for all
