CogState Limited (ASX:CGS) researchers believe they have found a way to detect the earliest signs of Alzheimers disease in otherwise healthy people.

The cognitive testing company’s Chief Scientific Officer Professor Paul Maruff has co-authored a study published in leading international medical journal Neurology.

Professor Maruff says the research could play an important role in the early detection of Alzheimers disease in patients who would not be diagnosed using conventional clinical assessment.

Cogstate posted a net profit of $2.5 million for the 2012 financial year.
