I thought the same as well. But what about all the pasta and rice. They'd need fresh veggies and meat to cook them with. In order to finish the over stocked items, they'll avoid restaurants and come back to Coles/woollies. Also, they will end up losing some stock or shelving till expiry.
Ultimately, it's just a waste of food caused due to unnecessary panic buying.
