I agree that they didn't intend to steal money. If the wanted to intentionally steal money if would be a much larger value.
This is a large company with a lot of full time, contract, part-time and casual workers going through the system. Even if you made a slight error on they way you calculate wages, the effect would be a flowing on for a while.
