Let's use an F18 for our purposes shall we seeing as we need to go vertical.
Let me tell you that at idle a jet engine (in a Hornet)uses about 2lts a second, so 4lts (2 engines) To get vertical it uses the full wet engine so now we are talking 60 lts a second per engine, so 120 lts per second. Don't forget about the fuel used for take off to get it in a position to transition to vertical flight.
Your argument here is stupid, so ill leave it at that.
The thing you need to be carefull of on here is you don't know what people have done for a living.
