Rubbish!!!
Burning 1 litre of petrol releases about 34,500,000 Mega joules (million joules) of energy.
This can move a typical car weighing about 1200 kg about 10km horizontally.
It takes only 12,000,000 joules to lift a 1200kg car 1km vertically(noting 10 joules will lift 1kg to a height of 1 metre)
So 1 litre of fuel could lift a 1200kg car almost 3kms vertically!!!
