LAC wasted a good chunk of money and time before abandoning the process in favour of the traditional brine route. So now POSCO are going it alone, and for lack of a feedstock, they are going in for recycling. No doubt recycling will be significant in a few years when batteries start being scrapped in number, but simple maths says it will only be a limited source of supply until the EV market matures. Whether POSCO's process will be a significant part of that recycling trend will depend on cost - anyone got an opex number???? No didn't think so

The Posco process works but they couldn't come to terms on an agreement with LAC (Lithium Americas Corp .)
POSCO however had its chance to lock up the Cauchari-Olaroz project, but spent the remainder of 2015 bickering over terms with Lithium Americas management.
