The EU is currently having a conversation about paying donors...

The EU is currently having a conversation about paying donors more for plasma donations, as most of their imports come also from the United States.
At the moment only Germany, Austria, Hungary, and the Czech republic pay donors in cash (a flat fee of around 30 Euros per donation), but most other EU countries provide some form of incentive, such as gift vouchers or paid time off, so it’s actually Australia which is the outlier here.
The debate in the EU is around how far to move towards the U.S. paid donation model, and whether a joint public unpaid/private paid model is the way to go.
