I doubt they'd sell on the day of the announcement, even if they have to sell their shares.
I'd expect they can pay the cash in any way that they are able.
I think the share price dropped since they didn't announce the sale price, so it was likely at a loss, so is a failed investment. An admission that their model is far from bullet proof.
