You seem to be ignoring the franking credits. I hold DBI in a tax free vechile, so the franking credits are added to my cash payment. Whether some of the payment relate to loan repayments, that is relevant for their tax return. I still have to declare it, it is paid into my account and I can spend it in full as I choose. So to me it is income, whatever they call it.
