Downer EDI Limited (ASX:DOW) has secured a contract on the Chevron-operated Gorgon Project off the north-west coast of Western Australia.The engineering company says the value of the contract is not to exceed $170 million and will depend on what work orders are placed.Among the scope of work expected is structural and piping erection, mechanical installations, electrical and instrumentation services and civil works.Downer says up to 400 Australian jobs will be created as a result of the contract to work on one of Australia’s largest resource projects.The initial term of the contract is for 12 months with extension options.Downer EDI improved its net profit by 0.2 per cent to $216 million in the 2014 financial year.
