Rand Mining Limited (ASX:RND) has suspended exploration activity in Liberia after a state of emergency was declared due to the Ebola outbreak.

The Perth based mining company says the government is struggling to deal with the deadliest Ebola outbreak in the African nation’s history.

As a result Rand Mining has suspended all exploration and development work relating to its Liberian interests and repatriated all those impacted to their initial place of appointment.

Liberia’s President has stated the nation’s government and people require extraordinary measures for the survival of the state and protection of its people.

Rand Mining advises these extraordinary measures could result in the suspension of certain rights and would last for 90 days.

Rand Mining reported a net profit of $3 million in the first half of the 2014 financial year.
