New Zealand won't be the only country that finds there is too much financial pain in achieving the over ambitious reduction promises .
Command Economies always seem to lead to economic stagnation and poor outcomes for citizens .
Luckily in Democracies there can be changes in direction and we are seeing it now in Europe in Italy and the Netherlands and in South America in Argentina and now in New Zealand .
Even in Australia the reality of the cost and damage caused by closing down our coal power stations and stopping oil and gas production too is now hitting home .
Bowen keeps on repeating like a trained cockatoo that Solar and Wind are the cheapest forms of energy .
If you take into account the all in costs of a Solar and Wind based power system it becomes horrendously expensive .
Huge environmental damage in mining the required minerals , huge new transmission line easements, huge redundancy required to handle intermittency extremely poor energy balance between the energy to build the networks , solar panels , wind turbine and the energy they produce .
Put in the cost of pulling down and disposing and replacing the systems at the ends of their economic life and put that into the economic analysis and you will see that sunshine and wind is not so cheap .
The pushback on what they want to do has hardly started yet .
