Drilling at Enterprise Metals’ (ASX:ENT) Doolgunna project in Western Australia has intersected massive and semi-massive sulphides, suggesting the site contains a large sediment-hosted sulphide system.
Several holes in a scout RC drilling program at the project’s Borg prospect encountered primary sulphide (pyrite) mineralisation ranging from laminated to semi-massive to massive within a black carbonaceous shale sequence.
The drilling has confirmed that a multi-element geochemical anomaly coincident with a gravity and electromagnetic (EM) anomaly in the area is the surface expression of a large mineralised system containing abundant sulphides.
This anomaly consists of elevated tellurium, tungsten, tin, molybdenum, bismuth, arsenic, copper and zinc – elements common to the nearby DeGrussa and Red Bore mineralised bodies.
Previous testwork at Borg has indicated that the pyrite and associated trace base metal mineralisation within it was indicative of the passage of orogenic fluids through the sediments.
Meanwhile, EM survey work at the project’s Vulcan-Goodins prospect has achieved about 26% completion and is expected to deliver final results next month, weather permitting.
Coarse gold has previously been discovered at Vulcan in a shallow pit associated with an area of ferruginous laterite.
Aircore drilling at the prospect has returned grades as high as 3.66 grams per tonne gold across 7 metres from 42 metres depth.
Doolgunna covers 1,100 square kilometres and is located about 110 kilometres northeast of Meekatharra and only 10 kilometres southwest of Sandfire Resources’ (ASX:SFR) DeGrussa discovery.
