News: Europe Distillates-Diesel margins edge higher in muted trade

LONDON, June 19 (Reuters) - Northwest European diesel barge refining margins rose to $20.80 a barrel on Wednesday in thin trading, with support from a report that a major European production unit had been shut down.

• Vitol sold to Gunvor one diesel barge in the afternoon window, the first trade in five sessions.
• Shell closed a 56,300 barrel per day (bpd) hydrocracking unit at its Pernis oil refinery in the Netherlands on June 18, consultancy Wood Mackenzie reported. Wood Mackenzie also reported decreased activity on the 58,600 bpd vacuum distillation unit (VDU) on the morning of June 18, it said in its refinery intelligence report.
• Diesel and gasoil arrivals into North West Europe and the Mediterranean in June are set to drop from the previous month, LSEG data shows.
• Arrivals are projected to reach 8.46 million metric tons in June, down from 10.3 million tons in May.
• China's May exports of kerosene and diesel surged from the same month lkast year, customs data showed on Tuesday, buoyed by strong jet fuel output, international flight demand and high diesel inventories.
