Letter of credit has been used for decades to facilitate world trade. And it is literally the same thing, except it is guaranteed by banks.
For Escrow to work in this scenario, it has to be accepted by both buyer and seller. If one party questions the use of Escrow, they won’t go ahead. And because it is trillions of dollars worth of trade, they wouldnt care about a couple hundred bucks on fees.
