Michael.......Articles by left wing think tanks are always false.... The claimed subsidies are not subsidies..if you were objective in any way you would know better.
“From a climate perspective this is inexcusable and from an economic perspective it is irresponsible. The major subsidies are Commonwealth tax breaks that mean the largest users of fossil fuels get a refund worth $7.8 billion on a tax that the rest of the community has to pay."
As you have been told many times before, rebates of fuel excise is not a subsidy....it is a refund of monies that all industries receive on fuel tax for the purpose of road construction/maintenance and paid through the purchase of fuel, except the vehicles and mine machinery do not use public roads...the same as the fishing industry and the agricultural industry... this is why they all receive their money back. Even a single operator farm can claim their fuel excise back on non road used vehicles, tractors and other machinery, provided they can meet the standard set by primary industries. Not only that, the fuel rebate has remained constant over about thirty years whilst fuel has continued to increase in price, meaning that the rebate as a percentage of fuel cost has decreased dramatically over time.
