July 17 (Reuters) - Australian miner Fortescue (FMG) appointed acting Chief Financial Officer Apple Paget as its permanent group finance chief on Wednesday and said it would cut about 700 jobs across it global operations.
The appointment comes at a time when the world's fourth-largest iron ore miner is facing an exodus of senior management amid a push from billionaire owner Andrew Forest to turn itself into a green energy company.
Paget, who holds around 25 years of experience as a finance executive, joined Fortescue in January last year.
Fortescue also appointed Chief Corporate Officer Shelley Robertson, who has spent less than a year with the miner, as its chief operating officer.
The miner has in recent times consolidated its metals and energy divisions into One Fortescue.
The company said about 700 jobs across its global operations will be cut and the process will be finalised by the end of this month.
