around the whole world there is only about 11,000km of under sea HV cables mostly in the northern hemisphere, this project alone is about 4,000km, the cable linking Tassie to Vic has failed twice since it was put into service, so according to industry experts, gas turbines would still need to be retained and maintained in Singapore to ensure supply reliability, adding more cost to the price of the power to be supplied.
