A new personal security device designed by Quicktrak Networks in Australia will be manufactured in South Korea. The company has licensed Kaitel to make the device, which provides location information. Based on Quiktrak's popular car tracking device, the new QT6010 transponder is only five millimetres thick, so it can easily be sewn into clothing. According to Quiktrack CEO, Vic Opperman, it will have many uses. The London police will trial it in October 2002. Kaitel has the rights to market the device in South Korea, where it may be used in softdrink vending machines to monitor their locations for restocking.
