UK BBC TV news this evening had a piece on new check-in technology in use from this week at London Heathrow. Seems the equipment scans passport documents and then logs-on the passenger by means of fingerprint, which becomes access key together with automatically issued boarding pass.
My reason for posting this is that the system is being used on only two routes initially: to Hong Kong and DUBAI. Could there be any connection with BQT, the new director, and the recent flurry of interest, I wonder?
In the same piece, there was also a little throw-away reference to a further announcement re the UK ID card to be made next week. Seemed to indicate that the technologies employed were complimentary. As a UK citizen, I would hope so. As a BQT shareholder, I'm saying a quiet prayer.
Cheers
