HiThis is a joint position paper on critical raw materials agreed by members of the EU Commission whilst Sweden held the Presidency from 1 January to 31 June. The presidency revolves every six months. From 1 July - 31 December it will be Spain’s turn. The EU Commission defines the overall political direction and priorities of the EU.The new rules will enable the EU to:diversify its sources of imports
increase extraction, processing and recycling in member states
The Council, representing EU countries, will still have to agree a final text of the law with the European Parliament, which is expected to establish its position in October.
The Council and parliament aim to conclude negotiations on the text by the end of the year.
