Galaxy Resources Limited (ASX:GXY) has officially opened its $100 million Jiangsu Lithium Carbonate Plant in China.
The lithium mining, chemicals and battery company says the plant is the largest capacity battery grade lithium carbonade plant in the Asia Pacific.
Lithium concentrate produced at Galaxy’s wholly owned Mt Cattlin mine in Western Australia will be used as the feedstock for lithium carbonate production at plant that has a design capacity of 17,000 tonnes per annum.
Galaxy has also confirmed that first production is still on track for the end of the current quarter.
In the 2011 financial year Galaxy Resources booked a net loss of $91.59 million.
