From my reading, Greenbushes is the only current Spodumene producer on the market. GXY/GMM will soon become the second with the Cattlin plant being re-commissioned, and only current Spodumene producer on ASX. They also mentioned extending the Cattlin resource through drilling based on customer demand. This could become important to increase output short term or extend the mine life long term.
Other Hard Rock projects are being planned but there will be a time lag before they come on stream, with funding and plant construction.
Albermarle plans a new battery plant by 2020 and will take Greenbushes output for that plant, thus further tightening supply available to other external customers on the market, of which there are many. With the flurry of sector news, can feel the heightened activity, and urgency of customers to secure supply.
