News: Geopacific Resources has first-rate gold, copper drilling results in Cambodia

Geopacific Resources’ (ASX:GPR) high grade gold and copper intersections have raised the bar for an upcoming initial resource at Prospect 150 of its Kou Sa project in Cambodia with a 34% copper equivalent intersection.

Notably, some of the mineralised zones identified by the reverse circulation drilling remain open.

Best results from the latest round of were:

- 36 metres at 15.71 grams per tonne gold, 49.52g/t silver, 1.18% copper and 0.34% zinc (11.11% copper equivalent) from 8 metres including 12 metres at 50.59g/t gold, 153.77g/t silver, 2.35% copper and 0.54% zinc (34.11% copper equivalent);
- 8 metres at 3.06g/t gold, 11.3g/t silver, 2.45% copper (4.38% copper equivalent) from 52 metres; and
- 32 metres at 4.26g/t gold, 20.81g/t silver, 1.25% copper and 0.34% zinc (4.09% copper equivalent) from 4 metres including 8 metres at 16.04g/t gold, 31.95g/t silver, 3.88% copper and 0.42% zinc (13.87% copper equivalent).

Besides these grades, exploration is also likely to be inexpensive given the project’s location in Cambodia.

While the main 400 metres strike of the prospect has now been nominally drilled on a 40 metre by 40 metre pattern down to a depth of 70 metre, future drilling will extend open zones, look to confirm deeper ‘feeder’ mineralisation and infill some areas prior to a resource being calculated.   

A deep dipole–dipole IP geophysics survey was also recently completed over the Prospect 150 area to identify lateral and depth extensions to the currently known mineralisation.

This survey, when added to the recently completed surface IP survey that accurately delineated the surface expression of the Prospect will help design the next round of drilling.

Prospect 150 and Prospect 160 are the most advanced areas at Kou Sa and with the excellent grade and recently released very high metallurgical recovery are likely to provide the initial feed for a flotation concentrate plant.

Drilling is continuing in other areas to test IP anomalies to allow them to be prioritised for further detailed resource definition work.

The drilling intercepted not only good grades but strong widths of mineralisation as well.
