OSLO, April 18 (Reuters) - The Finnish Energy Authority has confirmed new terminal rules for the country's floating liquefied natural gas terminal, allowing for reloading services and broadening its usage, terminal operator Gasgrid said on Tuesday.
Starting from Oct. 1, the new service means users can choose whether to off-take deliveries as regasified LNG directly into the transmission network or reload it in liquid state onto smaller vessels for further shipment, Gasgrid said.
"Reloading service will improve the security of supply to the areas where there is no pipeline coverage and will bring energy to the off-grid consumers," said Satu Mattila, chief executive of the terminal subsidiary.
Finland installed the floating storage and regasification (FSRU) vessel at the port of Inkoo at the end of last year.
It has been chartered for 10-years to serve both the domestic and Baltic markets after Russia stopped all exports of gas over disputes sparked by its invasion of Ukraine.
However, demand for terminal spots has been muted, with Gasgrid cutting available slots and only one commercial delivery received to date.
On Monday, Gasgrid said it was offering 35 terminal slots for the gas year 2023, running from Oct. 1 2023 to Sept. 30 2024.
