Great Western Exploration's (ASX:GTE) drilling at its Doolgunna and Cunyu projects in Western Australia is scheduled to commence next week.

A total of 11 reverse circulation drill holes are planned for 2000 metres of drilling; GTE has identified 12 late time airborne electromagnetic conductors at Doolgunna that fulfil target criteria.

Detailed plate modelling of 5 of these conductors has been completed and all 5 were confirmed as drill targets. The remaining 7 conductors are yet to be plate modelled; this will be completed shortly.

The first target selected for drilling is a 400 metre long, 80 metre deep conductor located 25 kilometres southeast of Degrussa within an interpreted structural corridor.

This target is also co-incident with copper and gold enrichment at the surface.

At Cunyu, the company has interpreted at least 30 kilometres strike of Wiluna greenstone belt under shallow cover along the eastern boundary of the Yerrida Basin, with Archaean mafic and ultramafic basement reported in historical drilling.

These Archaean mafic and ultramafic sequences are prospective for both nickel and gold.

The Keith Kilkenny fault zone is one of the largest Archean faults in the Yilgarn and has a spatial related relationship to many major nickel and gold deposits along its length, including Wiluna gold mine, Mt Keith, Honeymoon Well and Cosmos.

GTE is currently targeting the most northern section of the fault zone where it has identified a number of structural targets that are located 55 kilometres north-west and directly along strike of the 5 million ounce Wiluna gold mine.

Any small cap company drilling near Sandfire Resources (ASX:SFR) DeGrussa deposit is closely watched and this drilling campaign will be no exception.
