News: HIG Highlands Pacific updates on Ramu Nickel plant

April 21 (Reuters) - Highlands Pacific Ltd (HIG) :

• Operations at the Ramu Nickel process plant near Madang in Png will be suspended for the duration of an investigation
• Length of investigation, being conducted by png mineral resources authority and the mines inspectorate, remains uncertain
• Extent of impact will not be known until length of shut down is clarified and any required rectification work is completed
• Plant shut down will effect nickel production in the current year
• Refers to high pressure steam supply line rupture at the basamuk nickel refinery
