I remember living in Perth in the late 70's and there was 40 days in a row over 90 degrees F. Fact is Perth can be a very Hot place to live. Hot dry heat and if the Doctor does not come it stays hot for weeks/months on end. I was living in a house that had one room with A/C and we lived in that room for 2 months...moved all the beds in their etc. And you know what that is NOT BS and that was 45 years ago. That record of 40 days over 90 HAS been broken since 1977 but the fact is WA/Perth gets bloody Hot over Summer and always has.
