If I could answer questions like this with any certainty I wouldn't need a my job!
From the prospectus:
The investment objective of the Portfolio is to seek long-term capital appreciation from growth of Indian listed Equities and outperform the Benchmark Index (S & P CNX 500 Index).
It is an actively managed LIC. If they beat the benchmark then the fund and portfolio managers take a cut of that cream. Indices, doing what they do, go up and down, you may not get any profit at all, especially if your investment horizon is short.
It is worth noting that as well as shares the fund may use debentures, warrants, derivatives and any other equity security in which a Foreign Portfolio Investor is permitted to invest from time to time and which the Company and the Portfolio Manager have agreed in writing may be included in the Authorised Equity Investments.
It is all in the prospectus![]()
