A big part of the confidence the market will put into IDC's SP lays in the quality of management within the company.
IDC's management is growing but not just in ‘technical expertise’.
Its clear that IDC is going hard on putting together an uber qualified technical team.
One thing that should be said is that Steve Promnitz is entitled to humbly claim he discovered the gold at Mt Kare in 1988.
History puts Steve in the small exploration crew who, upon setting up camp at Mt Kare in 1988, proceeded to dig the necessary long drop solid waste pit.
In the course digging the long drop hole they discovered the top and sub soil to be contaminated with gold nuggets.
In the hours and days that followed thousands of people from all over PNG flocked to Mt Kare on foot, automobile and by helicopter.
Over a million oz of gold where pulled from the topsoil
It’s both ironic and (entirely) germane to THE theme that Steve be the man in history who completes the exploration and development of Mt. Kare and in part I suspect there is no one better placed, motivated and qualified to bring success to the project as a CEO.
This is born out in IDC’s very astute (and patient) search for only the most talented, successful and experienced team.
On that note a few observation.
Using knowledge won from Porgera, now confirmed again at Mt Kare, the higher grades of gold are found in the later stages of gold/silver deposition.
The entire sequence of epithermal base-metal carbonate mineralization at Mt Kare occurred over some 220-250,000 years.
Over the first 50,000-100,000 years at Kare a whole lot of silver and some gold is mineralized from a super-heated aqueous metal pregnant solution coming up from a chamber heated from volcanic sources way below.
In the latter stages of mineralization at Kare we see the roscolite silicication along faults and micro fracturing of the host rock caused by the event with the (utterly unbelievable) bonanza grades.
What is demonstrated in the metallurgy at Kare is that the silver to gold ratios change progressively, from the beginning to the end of the 250,000 year mineralization event, and from one extreme (high silver low gold) to the other extreme (high gold-low silver).
This is why it’s so very important to have someone like Dr. Tony Burgess on board.
I suspect DR Burgess knows the exact blueprint of process to chase up the Roscolite because he invented to process for its discovery and found billions and billions of dollars of gold next door.
This makes Dr. Burgess an extraordinarily valuable part of the team.
Immediately, I would be expecting the next addition to the team would be the project development engineer to work on details of the mining and beneficiation plant as part of the BFS.
When all the planets are aligned we will see the move, incrementally against the usual criteria and milestones.
