    i must be cold hearted - but imo there are many temp residents in australia that are also told to leave every year... those on 457 visas - those on student visas and those on working holiday visas...
    the rules are the rules.
    you dont make life plans in a country that you are not a permenant resident of.
    ive personally known many people who are desperate to stay in aus - but ultimately have had to leave... as they haveing got enough qualifications / work expericence / money to get through the points based immigration system.

    the uk cannot make one rule for the brain family and one rule for everyone else.... it would open the flood gates to abuse.


    and on a side note scotland is part of the uk... it doesnt get to make seperate rules... if they wanted autonomy they had the opportunity 18 months ago in the scottish refurendum... but the people said no.
