The success of an investment is not driven by luck. The success of investment in small caps is determined by your own due diligence when selecting an investment as well as management ability in correctly setting and executing a realistic strategy. You can also be passive or active in how you monitor your investment. You do also have a degree of control (e.g. through establishing contact with management) that can actually influence the outcome, even in small ways. This all doesn’t sound like luck to me but hard work.

I agree with the sentiment however. It would be helpful to receive an update from the company.
