How about "flogging a dead horse" then. ( There are some that believe if you flog a dead horse hard enough it will miraculously move)
You have summed up the position well.
1. The largest shareholders are in control.
2. Little liquidity.
3. Expensive debt .
4. Management is working to service debt.
5. The SP is going nowhere. ( though history would suggest down ).
Follow the money - check out management salaries and lenders of the expensive debt.
I guess they have been the only ones making money.
If someone who still has shares in this wants out and sells for the 1/10th of a cent per share on offer it could be the final nail?
