Jameson Resources (ASX:JAL) has received coal quality results showing relatively high projected yields with relatively low ash contents at its Dunlevy metallurgical coal project in northeast British Columbia, Canada.
The evaluation of the four core samples recovered marks the successful execution and completion of its Phase 1 exploration program.
All of the holes had intercepted portions of the coal bearing Gething Formation, with most finding multiple seams of varying thickness.
The coal quality results indicate that Dunlevy coals do not have attractive coking coal characteristics though some samples do display fair to good FSI at a low wash gravity.
This raises the possibility the Dunlevy coals can be processed through a two-stream processing plant, producing a very low ash coking coal and a still low ash PCI and/or thermal product.
Jameson is reviewing short term plans for Dunlevy in light of current market conditions, as the company continues to advance its flagship Crown Mountain coking coal project in the Elk Valley Coalfield of Canada.
